There is something so summery and romantic about a flowing midi skirt. If you are to buy anything for this summer, go and buy one of these. There are great alternatives if this colour doesn't appeal to you. Topshop have a bright red midi skirt, Zara has a dark beige one, but this one from Mango is a little bit special for me. It hits the ballerina trend in one swoop, but at £74.90....it is the most expensive out of the bunch. Just trust me when I say, you wont regret it.

I am currently in sunny Spain; yep I know "why am I on a computer?" right! well It's early in the morning and the sun has not really woken up enough for me to sunbathe yet, so thought I'd get back on with my blogging while I have the time.

Attending the afternoon tea last week featuring Amanda Wakeley's SS/2011 collection was wonderful. Not only were the cakes amazing there was champagne but the best part, was that we also had a catwalk around our table! it was so lovely, a very English afternoon spent with my girls.
The collection was stunning, featuring beautiful coral dresses, the most vibrant bright blue and very chic nudes. Amanda did come and have a chat with us, but I think that actually only happened because my sister was reading her brochure at that moment (clearly on purpose). The afternoon was fashion filled and I got to top up my ring collection at the very modest Oxford Street Topshop too! happy girl!

So while I have been in Spain, I have not really done a lot in the past week, except take a much needed time out and relaxation. The sun has been shining everyday without fail, so I have also been sunbathing and making the most of the rays. We walked along the beach to Puerto Banus (the very expensive port with the biggest boats I have ever seen in my life, next to the most beautiful designer stores) from Marbella which takes about an hour and a half, but we stopped off for a very cold drink from what can only be described as a tiny bar on the beach front (picture the kind of bar you see in the movies in the sand) so that is about the only exercise I have got since I arrived! Oh well, what are holiday's for.
I have also been to the local vintage store, which is slightly out of my price range, featuring the most beautiful vintage Celine/Marc Jacobs/Chloe among some other gems! absolutely wonderful.....if only I could actually buy something.

I thought I'd give you a little update......I am off to a very fashionable afternoon tea at The Dorchester in London Town next Wednesday, as Amanda Wakeley is showing her Spring/Summer 2011 collection, not only that she is also table hopping and chatting about personal style! errrrrrm oh gosh, I literally can't wait.....my big sis is coming down from the middle of the map and my flatmate Cha is getting involved in this little outing! very exciting. Now I will try to update soon after, but seeing as I now live in the dark ages, my Internet connection is a little sparse to say the least, so it might not be until I return home from my trip to see my fave Donsie.....in the one and only Marbella next week! woop :) no tan for me though! the weather seems pretty bad (but not as bad as here!).

So on the note of February....that does of course mean the month of the Valentine (cue little sick noises or gagging for some) well that wont be me, not because I have someone to call my valentine, but because you can always hope, that valentines day will bring you flowers to you work desk....for the first year ever ;) wellll perhaps not, but a girl can hope ;)

No your not seeing things......I thought it about time I branch out into the styling of products and gadgets, plus Sony Ericsson sent me this to review, so thought it only right!

As I normally only talk about fashion, I will mainly concentrate on the fashionable elements of the MW600 headset. I got sent the white version, which I really like and this included inner ear headphones (which I really dislike, I have come to realise) and a charger. The overall look of this is interesting, with very few buttons, it was difficult to work out how to turn the damn thing on, without any instructions to help me work it out...I spent most of the day and evening working it out! It looks too small to be complicated, but it seems it was. The use of white and silver makes it look really stylish and really design focused. There are white lights used on the display so its really in-keeping. The battery power is great, I have had it for around a week and haven't needed to charge it up yet! bonus!

The small design makes it really easy to clip it to your running clothing (although I wont be testing this out as I'm more of a yoga lady) I have walked to work at a fast pace and now in the snow and the clip has not slipped yet! I found the volume control sticks slightly, which is a shame and considering the rest of the product uses buttons, the fact the volume is a touch slide, made it even more confusing. So after much time spent looking like an idiot trying to press the volume button, I worked it out and turned it up! yay.

So overall, the style of the headset is really nice, the sleek design is nice but the volume issues and the sound quality is not perfect....but I think I'm being picky, as it is a tiny little thing, even smaller than your lipgloss! as for sinking it up to your mobile phone...this works and the radio finds all the right stations without taking too long.

I have to say though, the best way to use this is if you attach it to your Burberry Mac.....you know keep it stylish to the max!

I have to say I love H&M too.....but with the site almost crashing at the pressure of online fashion savvy peeps shopping desperately to get there hands on this fashion love child, it was enough to want to stay away for me. With all the items saying (sold out) before you could even click on your size. Its the same every time something great happens with online fashion. Just look at The Outnet with their £1 sale. That put me off for life. With Twitter going mad with complaints and to with stories that people were even trying to shop on the Swedish and German H&M site! which was also crashing.

Th collection itself looks fantastic, with perfect little on trend dresses for the party season and cute little jackets.....it got me interested lets say. However with only 4 pages for women and 4 pages for men, it just wasn't enough! We need more H&M!....Amy has her sad face on, at missing out once again.

Trip to Cheshire and my Shopping Delight

I recently went to visit my family in Cheshire and every time I go, we always have a trip to the shops. This time I was looking for a winter coat. Now I like to have a new coat every year because as you wear this coat everyday for around 6 months, by that point everyone needs a change right?
So I grew up in the countryside and to me there is one brand that epitomises the country, and that is Barbour. I love the fact that you buy one coat and it lasts over 10 years of your life, it follows you through good times and bad and probably through very muddy time too! The Barbour jacket has never gone out of fashion and always keeps you dry.
Now I live in a city but that's Brighton and for those of you who have been there, Winter can be a very, very cold and disappointing time in, as it's by the sea you literally get swept off your feet by the speed of the wind and when it rains....well let's not even talk about it!
My family are amazing and my Auntie and Uncle kindly bought me my first EVER Barbour at the weekend. It is the International Parka in Black and has a little waist that you can cinch in, to create the perfect shape for your body.

I absolutely love it and will be teaming it with my wellies for the yearly back to home bonfire night, in the village I grew up.
So a word of advice.....If you want a coat to last you through the dark nights and the wet and windy days, then Barbour is your brand.

Un-Fashion Moment

I have been struggling to post at the moment and I hate to make excuses..but...I am having a fashion dip, the reason for this would be, that I am moving out of the flat I have shared with my partner for the last year and I am having to go it alone and you know what, fashion just feels like a struggle when you have a million things on your mind.

I am however still in the process of finding a dress for my friends wedding next weekend, 18th September to be precise.....which is not going well seeing as all my spare time from now on will be spent packing my worldly goods into cardboard boxes! The thing about weddings is there is such a pressure to get a dress that is individual, that no one else will be wearing, that is not anywhere near to the colour of either the brides dress or the bridesmaids dresses and finding something that YOU actually love. Wow being a woman is so much harder than people think!

Now apart from my little cardboard box world, I am also thinking about London Fashion Week

as it is fast approaching, next Friday it all starts and with shows including Bora Aksu....oh how I love!, Sass & Bide and PPQ I am a little over excited! I shouldn't forget to mention that obviously New York Fashion Week starts tomorrow and actually I am really liking the New York fashion scene at the moment and generally it seems closer to what I am wearing this season than London fashion. Gotta love New York!

I will have my low down on here in the coming weeks, so watch out for that.

There is something so chic about Whistles clothing and accessories, the fabric they use and the way it hangs on your body. It's all made to make you look like your draped in gold and that you have paid in gold. The prices match the designs, ultra expensive for high street but oh so beautiful. Like these brown boots by Sam Edelman for Whistles. The leather is so soft they look as though they could be painted on your feet and the suede inner lining...oh the suede, literally died and went to heaven! The wedge heel making them perfect for you commute to work (you know on and off the tube/bus/train/car....not bike...definitely not bike!) That subtle detailing around the top of the heel add the je ne sais quoi. Basically I am smitten..are you? £170 not too bad if you save your pennies x signed me x

Wow I never thought I'd see the day. H&M and Zara are both launching online stores in September. Zara will go live 2nd September and H&M online will go live on 16th September. I have been longing for this day, however I am sure my debit card has not! ooops online shopping spree coming on...... ;)

H&M online will sell not only Women's, Men's and Children's clothing, it will all sell soft furnishings, which aren't even in store! brilliant, literally cannot wait!

Autumn/Winter

I have been thinking a lot recently about what really makes me smile about fashion. It's not just the pretty floral maxi dresses and the soft blouses, or the cute sandals. It's Autumn/Winter fashion that makes me tick. The layering, the mixing of textures and fabrics, and the wool, oh the wool!

Don't get me wrong I love Summer more than you can imagine, but not for the fashion just for the sun and the summer evenings. The Autumn is where it's at for fashion. I absolutely love getting up in the morning and thinking about how to layer up for the day to come. It's so simple to do and so effective to make you feel eclectic and unique. You wouldn't find three different people in a row wearing exactly the same layered tops in the same way, however in the summer you could find your wearing the same maxi dress as the girl in front of you....not only is it embarrassing, it's scary when you have to worry about trying so hard to be different. In Autumn/Winter you don't really have that problem and you get to be you again, the individual, unique and special you!

I am counting down the summer nights until I can go shopping and buy my winter wardrobe......reading magazines for the September issue is so exciting, seeing each different take on the future fashion and loving every second. I have a little list in my head, which is my wish list of things I really want.

Fashion excites me but for all the right reasons, not to be ahead of the fashion pack or to be the most "out there" or the most seen......just to be special in my own fashionable way, to feel amazing in my choices and to make the most out of what I have, that's what fashion is all about, that's what makes me smile!

I came across one store in particular that caught my eye. Luphia - it stocks Korean clothing brands with all items actually made in Korea. They have some of the most beautiful pieces at really affordable prices. Like this gorgeous lace dress £42.00, they are actually out of stock of this one (I'm not surprised) but I really felt the need to show off what kind of little gems can be found at Luphia.

I came across Gina Foster a milliner and found this stunning hat in her La Parfumerie Collection online. I love her designs they are beautiful. I am always on the look out for some design talent and although I notice she has been featured in many influential magazines including The Sunday Times Style Magazine, this is the first encounter I have had with her designs. They are truly stunning and extremely wearable. This particular hat is one of my favorites as there is something so riviera chic about the style....however there are so many more beautiful hats and facinators, including the Aramis in blue.....what a great colour, the electric eye catching pop of blue hue keeps you hooked and wanting more. I just completed a wardrobe de-clutter for her when I went to visit for her birthday and I have to say......shock horror she has a ridiculous amount of clothes. We de-cluttered about 4 bin bags worth of clothes and her wardrobe was still full, plus we didn't even finish! I dread to think how many are lurking in her OTHER wardrobe! But I love de-cluttering other peoples wardrobes, it makes you both feel so free and gives you an overwhelming feeling of...."ummmm ooops that means there is room for new clothes!" yay get shopping for Summer girls!

I recently bought two rings from Leju, I just had to own a piece of their jewellery. It is made from a seed which can be found on a certain type of palm tree in the Amazonian rain forest. The seed is known as Vegetable Ivory. It is an ethical, natural source and as it is a similar hardness and colour to Elephant Ivory, Lenny Trines and Juan Munoz of Leju hope that by using Vegetable Ivory it will prevent people killing Elephants for their tusks.

I love jewellery design that has something different and special and has a story to tell, this is by far the most unique way of making jewellery I have come across yet!

The collection is all graphic prints, I love them but I do feel I wouldn't be able to pull of such a look, especially as most of the material was some sort of descendant from Lycra! oooh not a great look for anyone with some fat underneath their skin.
It was nice to see some colour for such a drab time of year. The dress in the middle (as pictured above) has the most amazing open back and that alone would sell the collection for me definately!

Alexander McQueen Dies

"British fashion designer Alexander McQueen has been found dead after taking his own life.

The 40-year-old committed suicide just three years after his close friend, Isabella Blow - who plucked him from obscurity and helped him become a star - killed herself.

A source at McQueen’s office this afternoon confirmed his death, saying: ‘It is a tragic loss. We are not making a comment at this time out of respect for the McQueen family.’

His death comes just days before the start of London Fashion Week and weeks before he was due to unveil his new collection at Paris Fashion Week on March 9."

Topshop Rant....

When I saw the new Spring/Summer collection for Topshop I was......how do you say.......shocked!

It is by far the most terrible thing I have ever laid my eyes on and it burned my retinas to a cinder! I hate it more than anything in the world! I realise I might be being a tad over dramatic but seriously who is going to wear the above dress? (which is not only see-through which is disgusting in itself but is actually probably the best of the collection) or the below dress which you can see the bottom of the models breasts and she is a size 0 with flat boobs! umm ok...

The whole thing is a disaster and if anyone actually buys this shit I am going to have words! I normally stick up for Topshop but their designers have taken drugs and spun around for a while because small children in pre-school could conjure up better ideas!!!!!!

It's hideous and pretentious and unflattering and NOT NORMAL! I thought Topshop were supposed to be for the everyday fashionista, but I don't care who they are they really should sack the designers on this one! BAD BAD BAD......

Emma Watson for People Tree

I think I was expecting something quite different for Emma Watson's new collection at People Tree. This particular dress I feel is the best out of the collection, it has the most flattering shape and also comes in the opposite colour (dark blue with light grey trim).

The rest of collection is quite basic and has a sort of Crew clothing feel but with a younger more appealing take on it.

People Tree are a fair trade organisation who only make their garments in organic fair trade materials.
This does make them somewhat more expensive however not over priced for what they offer. This Moira Contrast trim dress is £45.

Primark Spring Summer collection is hitting stores at the beginning of March, with pieces like this one a Limited Edition dress on sale at £21. A bit more pricey for Pirmark than the norm, but what a great dress and who can complain about a few more pounds?

It ticks my boxes....it is a pastel colour which is really key for this Spring/Summer and with the little cut out lace detailing it makes this a little quirky feature.

I am too excited about this find! Matalans Spring/Summer collection 2010. The dress on the left is a Luella Spring/Summer 2010 classic and the one on the right is available at Matalan for a mere £25! a steal if your a Luella fan!

Matalan have some great pieces in their collection and I personally cant wait to see them up close....here we come Summer!

UGG and Jimmy Choo?

Wow I never thought I'd hear the day that these two unlikely teams would come together to make the UGGChoo!

Jimmy Choo founder Tamara Mellon is coming together with UGG to collaborate on a collection which will retail at £495 to £695.

Ok so as if we didn't have enough UGG boots in the world now they want to stick together the two (in my opinion) most annoying shoe designers and make a collection that not only conjures up images of 7 inch furry shoes but also at a ridiculous designer price.

I totally understand the high street collaborations of such pairings, but to have a hefty price tag on something that I can only imagine will be as hideous as it sounds...I don't understand it!

What do you think about this collaboration?

Work Attire

So it's back to the everyday working life! I haven't blogged for a while because honestly I just haven't found the time, but now I am back and thought it appropriate as it's January to ease you back into buying your clothes for work in 2010.

I start off by talking about this green dress from ASOS with it's little cap sleeves and cinched in waist, who wouldn't look great in this dress! It is really nice to get out of black after the winter and start easing colour back into your wardrobe ready for Spring Summer 2010.

At £30.00 this dress is a steal!

Top 10 Fashion of 2009

1. Nude - was here with avengence this spring/summer, from nude underwear right down to nude shoes and accessories

2. Colour blocking - this popped up from nowhere and had us all in amazing clashing colours

3. The asymmetric dress - how could you go through this summer without owning one of these! it just didn't happen.

4. Leather Jacket - worn with pretty much anything for style injection

5. Little Black Dress - never goes out of style.

6. Deconstructed dress - kind of random but definitely individual.

7. The Balmain Shoulders - hot and so 80's we love them!

8. Men's style shoes - not sure I get on with these but they do look cute with the right outfit like this one below!

9. Trophy Jacket -metallic and all things sparkly. How can you not end the year in sparkles it just wouldn't be right not to get involved.

10. Finally the Fur coat - hopefully faux everyone! but we finish this off with the staple in every ones wardrobes and the one everyone is talking about! from leopard print to the more demure dark brown and black, the fur coat is the essential for this Autumn/Winter...and if you can find one which suits your shape aka Alexa Chung, you have made the best choice of your life!

Topshop are opening a hiring service with dresses donated by celebrities. You can hire a dress for £40 with donations from Freida Pinto, Christopher Kane, Dita Von Teese and Kate Moss with Lanvin as shown in the picture.

The items are up for hire between 7th-23rd December, but you can start browsing and try them on today!

What a great idea to make these little treasures available to the people who can't afford to buy them outright.

They will go quickly, but you can only hire them for 2 days and you have to leave a security deposit (obviously) but this will be refunded.

Twitter saving fashion???

Designers have started using Twitter for help on their new collections. I kind of thought that designers use their own inspiration for their collections not using the general public.

Twitter I suppose is the way to do it if you asking for help. Short and sweet answers is all they will get. Stefano Gabbana via his Tweets said that he will "accept suggestions on Women's collection...(just 2day)"

Well obviously people replied..I only wonder what their next collection will turn out to be, a mix and match of the most random designs in the world I can only imagine! interesting none the less.
Twitter makes it amazingly easy to reach a large amount of people at the same time, with real time updates and applications on your phone, you can pretty much reach anyone you like. So I have to say well done for giving it a go, and I do hope he picks the right ones!

M&S are doing a made to measure service for men's shirts. This is such a brilliant idea and other stores should definitely follow suit!

The prices start at an extremely reasonable £29.00 and go up to £49.50.

You can personalise your shirt choice right down to the hem line and what type of collar you want. This service is brilliant and an individual way to style yourself.

On the left is a little information on the service M&S provide.

Why didn't anyone else offer this sooner? it is so great to see an affordable brand get a little more exclusive.

Stella McCartney launched her range of children's clothes for Gap Kids on 2nd November...so how could I resist but go in there and take a look.

The collection is so lovely, with quite a few pieces in similar tones including mink coloured trousers and really cute pink tops like the one above.

As I don't actually have any children of my own, I had to think of someone else I could buy something for...luckily my partner has two cute little niece's and a Little nephew! So I bought the above pink dress for Eva the cute 2 year old (soon to be 3) and I love it!

Holiday

I am off on holiday tomorrow, hence the fact I have been so rubbish posting this week! I have had a hard time trying to fit my clothes in the suitcase we are taking...you see in my own little way I was trying to save the planet and save some money by sharing a suitcase with my lovely boyfriend...only I forgot that, well I am ME so I packed too much, had to re-pack twice then finally gave up and stayed with the one outfit a day thing! oh hard times!

So the suitcase is so full we have to bring less Swiss Chocolate back with us, which upsets me no end! and I had to really think about what clothes would keep me warm, hence the picture of this lovely coat by Paul Smith. I was trying to pack for warmth, style and all round elegance...and ended up with warm warm and warm, so I ticked one box anyway!
I did however pack my mac and my biker boots as well as the cutest little hat to keep my ears warm!

As I am away for a nice long weekend (back Monday night) I wont be posting on here for a little while, I am not sure I will make it on here till Wednesday maybe even Thursday because I will have eaten so much chocolate I wont be able to drag myself to my computer!

This is the perfect way to stay warm, the thicker the better and if your worried about it making you look like a massive bear...cinch in the waist with a belt but in my opinion a thin one! not the one pictured, unless you have an extremely long body, don't go there!

The Coatigan

Well ladies, it's that time of year again. Falling temperatures (and leaves) signify that we must accept that any hope of a Summer is gone. It's also the time that many of us come to realise that the power-shouldered jackets we've been sporting of late, just won't cut it for the harsh weather of winter.

There are lots of fabulous coat options around already, but if you don't feel quite ready to don your winter coat just yet, there is an alternative.

The coatigan - a cardigan that can be worn as a coat (yes, I did make it up! You heard it here first). Although you may have been using cardigans as an Autumn in-between for a while, this year you'll have lots of options for cardigans that are designed to look like a coat.

The above image is in fact a coat that is designed to look like a cardigan, (knitted silk coat by Rocha £2435). It's all about comfort and warmth this season, although if you team your coatigan with some peep-toe boots and you've evened out practicality and style.

Everyone Knows I love Luella, cute dresses finished with even cuter detailing. I never get tired of her style, I could just look at her dresses and skirts all day everyday.

The make up and hair for her catwalk show is always so dramatic, and almost makes the models look grotesque, I just love the contrast with sweet and sour!

So I am looking through knitting blogs today, wondering how I can ever stop! who knew there were so many...it's never ending, there are extreme knitting websites, cooking and knitting websites, sheepy knitting websites and a whole lot more. It's actually very informative, and if I actually did knit I would find them extremely helpful. If only I did!

It's finding that balance between a great read which is actually helping you in the long term with your knitting culture, and being extremely funny and random. This one is great Nake-id Knits
